Books By Mail

Books-by-Mail is a free service through which homebound residents of Caroline County can borrow and return library books and audiobooks through the United States Postal Service.

Overview

Once an eligible customer is accepted into the program, they will begin to receive Books-by-Mail shipments generated from their reader profile or from items placed on hold through CCPL’s catalog.
Each Books-by-Mail shipment can include up to 3 items. Items will be shipped in a reusable canvas mailing bag with a return prepaid postage label.
Standard library checkout and renewal limits still apply.
When returning your materials, make sure to only include items that were sent to you in that shipment.
Your next Books-by-Mail shipment will not be sent to you until the library receives and processes your return.

Eligibility

Books-by-Mail is for individuals who are unable to leave home due to a temporary or permanent disability or lack of transportation.

We also accommodate customers expecting to be homebound for a short period of time, such as while recovering from medical procedures or injuries.

Only CCPL card holders are eligible for this service.

Note: Customers who are unable to read or use standard library materials due to temporary or permanent visual or physical impairment, such as low vision, blindness or manual disability, may also apply for services from the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LBPH).
