The fun and learning begin on Monday, June 9th. What’s on the calendar? The Amazing Josini will delight us with a blend of magic, comedy, and storytelling. Children can see, learn about, and maybe even touch live reptiles at the Reptile Wonders show. Ariana Ross of Story Tapestries will paint our world with stories, music, and movement in the multilingual program The Fastest Plane. Oh, and we need your help solving a mystery when Kris & Holly present The Museum of Lost Colors, an interactive program featuring magic, puppets, balloons, and more. Does your child love science experiments? Make sure they register for Rainbow Science when we learn how to make a rainbow walk and create a rainbow using a sunny window.
Teens, we’ve got you covered. How about coming to Library After Hours night? We’ll hang out in the Teen Zone, have some dinner, and team up for an art-themed escape room. If you’re into arts and crafts, you’ll want to register for the Teen Crafty Crash Course.
Looking for a colorful night of free family fun? Join us for the showing of The Hero of Color City. See what happens when Ben falls asleep and enters the world inside his box of crayons. Will Ben be able to help Yellow save the day and bring the color back to Color City? Come to movie night and find out.
Of course, what’s a summer reading program without a reading game? Color bingo is name of the game for youth summer reading this year. Read books and complete activities on our bingo board to earn a free book and prize for each bingo. Kids won’t realize that they’re enhancing their reading skills or learning something new because they’ll be having so much fun!
The Color Your World Summer Reading Program isn’t just for kids. Adults can earn entries for prize drawings by writing the titles of books read on Color Your World bookmarks and dropping them off at any branch of the library.
Regular programs like Storytime, Petite Picassos, Lego Mania, and Teen Tabletop will continue all summer, too. Why not earn a bingo by reading to Grigsby, the CCPL Paws for Reading beagle? Or just hang out on a hot day in the newly renovated Central Library. We have lots of comfortable seating for reading, or bring a laptop and get some work done. Little ones can play with the activities in the children’s room, and there are even areas of the library where you may bring your favorite beverage or snack to enjoy while you visit.
Registration for the Caroline County Public Library Color Your World Summer Reading Program begins on June 9th at all library locations. For more information on programs, call 410-479-1343 or visit our website www.carolib.org.
