Miles of Tile

Renovation Update #15

Ok, maybe ‘miles of tile’ is a slight exaggeration but ‘over a hundred square feet of tile’ doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it and it’s the little things that help get me through the day. As I’m sure you’ve already figured out, this particular renovation update will feature the newly tiles floors and walls of our brand new family bathroom (top left) and our updated staff bathroom (top right). We are particularly excited about the family bathroom as it has been an obvious need for our customers at the Central Library in Denton for many years now. The family bathroom, located in the children’s area, will make it much easier for our young customers and their caretakers to enjoy our welcoming library spaces!

More to Come

Throughout the month of July our contractors will be working to wrap up some of the more substantial aspects of the renovation; including the installation of new service desks, new flooring, ceilings, lighting,  and new networking cables. As these various projects are completed we will keep you updated with pictures and perhaps an additional clever rhyme or two.

Renovation: Phase 2

We are pleased to announce that we received another state library capital grant through the Maryland State Library Agency for Phase 2 of our renovations effective July 1.  We are very grateful that the Caroline County Commissioners are providing the local 22% local match for this project. Phase 2 includes  replacement of our aging and very well used elevator, as well as the replacement of our slate roof on the 1995 addition of the Library located on the parking lot side. We are continuing to work with Harper & Sons on these projects. Our goal is to get all the work completed by late Fall.

As always, stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget that our summer reading program is still ongoing and it’s not too late to sign up!
