With renovations set to begin in just a few short weeks (read more about that here) staff at the Central Library have been incredibly busy getting things ready. One of the biggest challenges we face ahead of January 3rd is packing up the materials here at the Central library so that they can be placed in storage for the duration of the renovation. Don’t worry though! Ms. Mina, along with our other awesome librarians, is setting aside a curated collection of our most popular materials that will be available in the “Mini Library” located in our large meeting room on the 2nd floor. Along with a select collection of popular materials our “Mini Library” will also feature public computers, print/scan/fax services, quiet reading areas and technology assistance. You will also still be able to pickup the items you have on hold from the Central Library as well.
Over the next few weeks, as you visit the Central Library, you will undoubtedly notice some drastic changes as our collections get packed up and furniture gets moved about. This week we will be working on packing up the Maryland Room collection and the Youth Services collection so that these areas can be accessed by our contractors when they arrive to start work on January 3rd. Please excuse our dust during this moving phase and the spotty availability of some service and resources here at the Central Library.
