Renovation Update #14

The past few weeks have been more inconvenient than normal for those of our customers that prefer to visit our Central Library in Denton due to ongoing work in the vestibule which required us to close for a period of time. Fortunately, while we were closed here at Central we were able to continue to provide services and access to our resources at our Federalsburg and Greensboro branches. Now that the work in the vestibule is complete we will be reopening the 2nd floor Mini-library at Central effective June 1, 2023. We still have a lot of work to complete for the renovation but we are decidedly on the home stretch now! If all goes according to plan we should be able to reopen the completely renovated first floor of the Central Library  sometime this Fall.

What's Next?

With work in the Central Library vestibule completed our contractors are free to focus on other aspects of the renovation, such as painting. The Central Library has been in desperate need of an updated color scheme for a good while now and this week is when we start to see some of those new colors make an appearance on various accent walls throughout the facility. We’ll be sure to upload some pictures as soon as that work is completed!

Additionally, over the next week or two we will have contractors in the building pulling new network cables for the first floor. This phase of the renovation in particular will help modernize the Central Library and allow us to better accommodate the new technologies and services that are being introduced to the wide world of libraries.

Keep checking back for more updates on this renovation. We’re excited for our community to be able to enjoy the newly renovated Central Library as soon as possible!
